You are invited furthermore to present in contrast to Brahms a Renaissance composition, sacred or secular, of your choice and you are asked to do a step into the 21st centruy, precisely 2003.

That is, when Prof. Herwig Reiter of the Vienna University for Music and Performing Arts wrote

 

"Das kleine Halleluja"

 

which is published, but has not yet been premiered.

The Austrian National Broadcasting and TV Corporation just came out with a CD of some of Herwig Reiter´s choral works.

He presently writes two operas to be performed in Vienna in 2007 and 2008 and also wrote an obligatory piece for the "Young Choral Directors Competition" in Vienna in 2004.

75 conductors from 32 nations applied for this competition in which an American conductor won the second price. Reiter was "of course" a member of the Vienna Boys Choir (Wiener Sängerknaben) and recently published two volumes of choral music for mixed choirs. He gently leads from Brahms into our centruy.

 

Ask for your complimentary copy of his CD. The Brahms pieces are published by Möseler, "Das kleine Halleluja" (The little Halleluja) is published in Vienna by Alexander Mayer. All works can be ordered conveniently through the internet.

 

 

ORDERING THE COMPETITION PIECES

 

To get a quick look at the obligatory pieces to be presented in the competition come to Vienna via the inernet.

Doblinger is the name of the music store which has the scores.

So please go to www.doblinger.at (musicshop) and you can order your music and pay conveniently with your credit card. You should have the scores in about a week and befriend you with the music which will lead you to a new music experience and personal success.

Brahms Choral Works

 

It can be of great help to choir directors wishing to participate in the competition to get themselves this edition of eight CDs presented by the "European Chamber Choir" directed by Nicole Matt and produced by "Brilliant". Cost $ 40

The competition pieces are included and one can get a good idea of Brahms´ stupendous choral music and what is academically called "performance practice".

Any choir director buying the work and registered for the competition will get a $ 50 check from Vienna in compensation of the costs.
