Vienna loved Brahms and Brahms loved Vienna, where he lived for 35 years. Vienna challenged and inspired Brahms. Where better to interpret him?

Furthermore the year 2007 marks the 110th anniversary of Brahm´s death.

Brahms conducted a woman chorus in Hamburg and was in Vienna for two years conductor of the prestigious "Singakademie", which still florishes with pride about this engagement. Brahms choral works breeze choral experience.

The Brahms Vienna International Choir Competition is a unique encounter with Brahms and the Brahms Saal of the "Musikverein", of which Brahms is an honorary member, is the best place to present his music in competition. Competition meaning to give your best and go beyond. The Brahms Saal will lift your voices to reach the master. The jury has selected two Brahms works, where you can best show your understanding of the composer, your competence as conductor and the standing of your choir.
